Purpose
While I am fairly certain this is just for myself, hello to anyone that stumbles upon my blog!
I often find that it is hard to slow down and there just is not enough time in the day or the week to think beyond the surface. I am someone that enjoys
reflecting and thinking about life in small and big ways. I continually find the urge to want to think out loud. Hence, I am hoping with creating this blog it will help me
be able to learn more and continue to grow. And even look back at what my perspectives were from a different time and see how they have changed or stayed the same. When thinking about the purpose of creating this blog, I see it as a place where I can gather my thoughts, ideas, and things I am learning in one place.
I also find myself having the yearn to explore, "the travel bug", itchy feet, "wanderlust", whatever you want to call it. I find this is not uncommon with it being easier to get from one place to another and unnerving being somewhere foreign having smartphones (aka Google and my personal favorite Google Maps). However, everyone experiences the world differently. So I want to share some my experiences from when I travel.
Many would agree it is ordinary for people to capture their experiences in photographs and post on social media to showcase their travels or what is going on in their life in general. I admit, I enjoy posting pictures of the cool places I have been or the things I have been doing with my friends. But when I started to travel more, I found it was not enough. I could not articulate all my thoughts and feelings of my experience discovering new places in a picture with a sentence or two. So I started making short GoPro videos of my adventures to try to capture more of my journey. I found I really enjoyed re-creating my travel story through videos because it seemed more like a fluid memory then a static collection of pictures. I could put myself back in that moment more easily. Now I want to take my travels further with this blog to dig deeper; beyond the picture or video. Illustrating the different atmosphere, culture, people, and mindset from stepping into a new place I have not been a part of before.
So what will this blog actually be? Perhaps a "virtual journal" would describe it best. I never want to limit myself to what I want to share. But traveling has sparked my interest in this creation and will be a major focal point.
If this blog goes beyond the eyes of my own, I'll give preview to one of my travels with an Irish Gaelic phrase I came across that many may have
seen, but may not know the meaning behind it. During my trip to Ireland, my
travel buddy and I went to the Jameson Distillery and their family motto
that is always on a bottle of Jameson is 'Sine Metu', which means "Without Fear." Life can be
frightening but;
Sine metu,

Blogging is an interesting form of art where you tell it like it is. I can open up my mind, go back decades ago & refresh the memories of my travels n journeys way back then. It's like watching a Netflix series of your personal life & you can stop n start whatever part you want to. You can dream it during your nights sleep, tell it to a friend or relative, what a wonderful experience huh! I began a written journal quite a few years ago but no entries in quite a while maybe I'll pick it up again. A great idea using your gopro camera Meg mine was a Bolex 8 MM movie camera no sound but loaded with a lot of features for the camera guy I was back then & still am today. Creating good memories is something all of us should do! Gotta sign off for now, so Meg great idea you have going for yourself. There will be no regrets I promise. Bodabill
